Cattails and Cocktails Reception
Friday, May 13 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Preview party featuring catered buffet dinner by Outback Steakhouse; Wine and beer; Live music by members of the Archie Edwards Blues Heritage Band; Silent auction of miscellaneous tickets, a hand-carved oyster boat by Nick Flagg, golf package, and select bottles of wines from local wineries; Presentation of Grants. Hosted at the College of Southern Maryland, La Plata campus 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata, MD 20646 (Directions).
All exhibits open at 6:30 p.m.; Mingle with artists and purchase wildfowl art, contemporary, antique decoys and related items, antique decoy and water-fowling artifacts exhibit on display, free decoy identification, appraisals and more.
Potomac Wildlife Art and Decoy Show
Saturday, May 14 – 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. FREE Admission (donations welcome) Event to take place indoors... Rain or Shine
Join acclaimed artists from the region as they show off their fine art photography, wildfowl carvings, hand carved decoys, oil paintings, beach glass jewelry, reclaimed birdhouses, miscellaneous wood carvings, sculptures, antique and collectible decoys, driftwood sculptures and more. Bring your decoys in from home and get free decoy appraisals and identifications. See antique display of decoys, water fowling artifacts, and more. Items for display and sale.
Breakfast with the Carvers
Saturday, May 14 - 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. $15 per person
If you are interested in decoys, both old and new, you will hear from three of today’s most acclaimed carvers– Ray Whetzel, Bruce Eppard and William Bruce – to discuss how the tools and traditions of Chesapeake Bay decoy carvers of the past 100 years find their way into their modern creations. The session will be moderated by Chad Tragakis, a regular contributor to Decoy Magazine and president of the Potomac Decoy Collector’s Association. Potomac Wildlife Working Decoy Competition
Saturday, May 14 - 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Entries for the competition will be received from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. and the judging will begin at 12:00 p.m. Registration must be completed prior to the start of the competition (Download Decoy Registration Form).
The International Wildfowl Carving Association rules apply. Competition organized by the Rappahannock Carvers and Collectors Guild.
