A memorial fund was established by the family of the late Grover Washington, Jr., legendary “smooth jazz” player. The donor-advised fund supports music education. A memorial fund was established by a teacher to honor his teenaged hero, Otis Redding. The scholarship fund benefits African American students at the teacher’s high school. Athletes Giving Back Fund -- a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley established this fund for three of his NFL clients. The fund exists, however they have not yet made any contributions to it. The plan is for more athletes to come on board. The initial three participants are Thomas Barndt (retired from New York Jets), Jay Williams (Miami Dolphins defensive end), and James Allen (Houston Texans running back). The Fund for Children was established by the Philadelphia Eagles and the Philadelphia Phillies in 2003. In exchange for getting two new stadia, each team will contribute $1,000,000 per year for the next 30 years to benefit children’s programs in the City of Philadelphia. M.
