Friends of the Community Foundation

If you could do one single thing to make Charles County and southern Maryland a better place to live, what would it be?

Does your vision touch our hospital, schools, farms, youth and elderly, homeless and the hungry, recreation and transportation, and our community’s theaters and art galleries?

All that—and more—is the work of the Community Foundation of Charles County (CFCC). The Community Foundation of Charles County is a 501c3 public charity, created by and for the people of this community.

To help build capacity for this community’s foundation, join us as a “Friend of the Community Foundation” by contributing $100 in your name, in memory of a Friend or in honor of a Friend and receive a lapel pin recognizing your support of our community. In addition, you will be listed as a “Friend” on our website, www.somdgiving.org and in our Annual Report.

Besides the recognition, you will be supporting the valuable work of the Community Foundation of Charles County by allowing us to continue to:

1. Manage Endowments and Non-Endowments To Benefit Charitable Causes -- We encourage citizens to think about the future --- we invest gifts and annually distribute a percentage as grants and scholarships. Since our inception date, December 2005, the Community Foundation of Charles County has returned more than $225,000 in grants to the community with the help and support of hundreds of individuals from Charles County. Everyone can make a difference.
2. Provide a Broad, Flexible Purpose. We support youth recreation, education, environment, conservation, housing, health, arts and culture —the entire charitable gamut—all to support the greater good of this community. Since our inception, we have worked with donors to create fourteen new grant-making funds and are growing fast. Everyone can make a difference.

3. Provide Personalized Donor Service is Key to Our Work. Donors stay involved (if they choose to) in grant-making recommendations and in the original design of their charitable fund. We help families, individuals, and companies build legacies of giving that will stay here, locally, forever. Everyone can make a difference. Everyone can leave a legacy.
