Community Grant FundThe Community Grant Fund was established in March 2008 to support the residents of Charles County. CFCC’s unrestricted fund is sustained by broad-based public donations for use in meeting the changing and emerging needs of Charles County as identified in the March 2008 Priority Needs Assessment. Grants must address one or more of the needs identified in one or more of the following six focus areas of the report: Arts and Culture; Education and Scholarships; Environment; General Community Improvements; Health and Wellness; and Youth Initiatives. DC Area Outback Steakhouse Charity Fund
The DC Regional Outback Steakhouse Charity Fund was created in March 2008 ‘to support Children’s National Medical Center and the Children’s Bloodmobile.’ In April 2010, the DC Regional Outback Steakhouse Charity Fund added an additional nonprofit to support and it is The Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA).
A restricted non-endowed fund established by Cornell Barnett, the Joint Venture Partner of 13 Outback Steakhouse restaurants in Maryland and Virginia.
Over the past 5 years the funds raised by the Outback Steakhouse Charity Fund have gone towards Children’s National Medical Center blood donor center and towards the purchase of a new Bloodmobile. The Bloodmobile has made it possible for Children’s to bring awareness to their need and to recruit more blood donors. To date the DC Area Outback Steakhouse Charity Fund has raised almost $200,000 for Children’s National Medical Center. The 8th Annual DC Regional Outback Steakhouse Charity Golf Classic will be held at Atlantic Golf at Potomac Ridge, May 18, 2010. The Zonta FundThe Zonta Fund was created in September of 2008 ‘to advance and improve the status of women and children.’ A Field of Interest non-endowed fund to support women and children in Charles County sponsored by the Zonta Club of Charles County Maryland. Proceeds from the RAVE Walk contributed to the Zonta Fund are used to support agencies in Charles County who work to prevent violence against women or who provide practical, emotional, or psychological support to survivors.Zonta Club's 6th Annual RAVE Walk, Saturday, October 17th, 2009 at the Regency Furniture Stadium will benefit CAP - Center for Abused Persons and SANE. Registration begins at 8 a.m., kick off at 8:30 a.m. There is no registration fee for the RAVE Walk. However, a minimum of $15 in donations is required to participate; $20 if registering the day of the walk. For more information please see the flyer and brochure below.

Sisters At Heart, a donor advised fund, established in May 2010 with CFCC, created to promote breast cancer awareness. The group formed in November 2007 with the hope to make a difference in the lives of women diagnosed with breast cancer. "Each of us has faced the reality of our diagnosis and its impact on our lives. We share our hopes, our fears, and our tears. We are here today to draw strength and comfort from each other as we travel this road together."

BLING (Business Leaders Interested 'N Giving) 2008 Special Project FundA youth philanthropy program formed to aid youth-related charities located in Charles County. Their mission: Young Future Business Leaders of America developing awareness in order to improve themselves and give back to the Charles County community. BLING is an offshoot of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapters from each of the high schools located in Charles County. The students have set fundraising goals, plan to host fundraisers, and award grants to youth-related nonprofits located in Charles County. The grants will be based on (but not limited to) The Priority Needs Assessment for Charles County, a study recently completed through a collaboration of three key organizations in Charles County - the Community Foundation of Charles County, the United Way of Charles County and the Charles County Commissioners. "Our goal is to empower the students with leadership skills, teach them how the act of giving can positively change a person’s life, and to encourage them to live responsibly because their actions can influence many more, " stated Gretchen Heinze Hardman, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Charles County. "In addition, we want the teens to have fun."
