The grant funding originates from the CFCC’s Community Fund (also known as the Foundation’s unrestricted fund) , funded through broad-based public donations for use in meeting the changing and emerging needs of Charles County. Proposals must address one or more of the needs identified in one or more of the following focus areas of the report:
- Arts and Culture
- Education and Scholarships
- Environment
- General Community Improvement
- Health and Wellness
The Foundation has broadly defined the goals and priorities of the Community Fund Grant Program in its Grant Guidelines. The vision and mission statement of the Foundation are as follows:
Vision: To make Charles County the best place to live and give.
Mission: To improve the quality of life for the community of Charles County by aligning philanthropic interests with community needs through stewardship and collaboration.
Eligibility for Application
The Community Foundation of Charles County funds:

Youth Initiatives Call for Grant Proposals
The Community Foundation of Charles County (CFCC) invites proposals for projects that address the Youth Initiative needs of Charles and Prince George's counties, as identified in the March 2008 Priority Needs Assessment for Charles County. Although the needs identified in the study were specific to Charles County, we feel that they are broad enough, and universal enough, to apply across our borders.
For the 2010 grant cycle, CFCC's Youth Initiatives grants are being funded through a collaborative fundraising event with Bonefish Grill of Brandywine. Funds will support the changing and emerging needs of youth in Charles and Prince George’s counties.
